Our 2026 edition ‘Being an Animal in the Middle Ages’ has just been published! We are delighted to share this with you. It has been a true joy for our editors, authors and the rest of the YMJ board to work on this project, and we are very proud of this edition.
YMJ Style Guide
Submitting to a journal is not just about writing an article. Authors must have an awareness of the publication’s style guide, which is a set of standards for the writing, formatting and design of documents. Undergraduate students will be most familiar with it as a citation guide, however it also informs its reader about standardised spellings, conventions for using translations, font style and size (though not limited to this list). Here is YMJ’s style guide written by our 2026 edition’s editorial leads Ramalya Karunaratne and Anna Pirie:
